The Clark County School District (CCSD) will observe the Week of Respect during the first week of October. The goal of the week is to decrease bullying/cyberbullying in Nevada by creating a culture of understanding, empathy, and equality. During this week, we will offer activities, events, and community awareness to bring awareness and respect for others.
Schools across CCSD participate in activities every day to emphasize a safe and respectful learning environment, and we are asking all of our students and employees to wear blue on “Get Your Blue On” Friday. This unifying gesture demonstrates that CCSD is committed to reducing instances of bullying in our schools and treating each other with respect. “Blue” is the symbol of unity and success for our community.
NRS 388.145 Requirements for delivery of information during the annual “Week of Respect.” The board of trustees of each school district and the governing body of each charter school shall determine the most effective manner for the delivery of information to the pupils of each public school during the “Week of Respect” proclaimed by the Governor each year pursuant to NRS 236.073. The information delivered during the “Week of Respect” must focus on:
- Methods to prevent, identify, and report incidents of bullying and cyberbullying;
- Methods to improve the school environment in a manner that will facilitate positive human relations among pupils; and,
- Methods to facilitate positive human relations among pupils by eliminating the use of bullying and cyberbullying. (Added to NRS by 2013, 2137; A 2017, 4162) — (Substituted in revision for NRS 388.145)
